Breakfast at Philosophy's

My parents (above 60 yrs old) are not believers yet, and I share Paul's sentiment in Romans 9 - if it's ever possible, I'd willingly trade my salvation for theirs.

Last Sunday, we had a very warm & honest conversation over breakfast when they asked me abt my beliefs as I listened to their views on life, faith and relationship. Among others, we also touched on whether there is 'absolute truth' and whether God can create a stone so big He Himself can't move.

Ultimate stuffs that really matter. It was so interesting that I almost missed church!

A few lessons I try to apply from the conversation with loved ones:

1) Learn to 'whisper short secrets' - fewer, simpler, softer words
2) Earn our right to talk via genuine relationship and listening
3) Let our words be less religious, more common/earthy
4) Reach out without dumbing down

(It's unbelievable but Mom/Dad, in their pasar Cantonese, ask tougher questions than any Alpha forum I've attended)

Praise God for the opportunity!
