CF Friends


The days in HELP Institute were an adventure for this Ipoh boy. Got 'corrupted' by those city kids. Start to listen to pop music, date, go mamak - yikes! The last time I heard these CFers are still meeting up for fellowship, that's what a friend is for... lar... This picture has 3 of the HELP Four - Kia Meng, Shih Chung and Derrick. I'm missing. Our mission is more modest compared to the Cambridge 7 and Oxford trio. The Holy Sleep Movement... an anointing so powerful that people doze off during sermons. Our prooftext is "What would Jesus do in a storm?" He slept while the disciples fret. It never took off, people tend to like their manifestations loud!

In UM CF, a few of us tried to kick-start some sort of an informal CF-think-thank but never took off as well. Some other funny things we tried; Fake Liberals, Students of Evangelical Fellowship (SEF in contrast with FES..hehe), all never seemed to work out. The only surviving one is my Celibacy Club, which also has seen quite a number joining 'the other side' the past year. But I guess that's the fun part of being idealistic in uni...

Varsity/College days are the right time for some healthy dose of idealism and foster some grandiose dreams... Holding to them when the world knocks them around is quite another... Maybe that's wat separates reveries from convictions?

Oh yea, we had the "Eunuchs for Jesus" movement too... some of us are still foolishly plodding on!
