Is there a spiritual barometer for a city? I'm biased, but imho, a bookstore shows a good deal about the spiritual health of a community.
Went to Brisbane, Australia recently. Nice place, people dun need to lock their doors when they go to bed.
The book stores are depressing though. Went to a couple of them, and the Christian section carries mostly stuffs by Barbara Thiering, a pseudo-scholar whose theories abt Jesus' supposed marriage and divorce based on the abuse of pesher method sound more like fiction than history and Bishop Spong, who wants to make the Church accept homosexuality, divorce etc as valid, alternative lifestyle.
I can hardly find one or two decent books there, except for Plato's Dialogues.
That is some indication that our 'mind-share' amongst the population is not too encouraging.
In contrast, MPH has quite an impressive selection of Christian books amongst the dodgy ones. Kudos to Rodney and gang!
