I always have a phobia to knock on doors to hand out tracts... It often results in some sort of guilt.
But I've found another mode of 'evangelism' that is more suitable to my temperament. Have informal chats where the guests set the agenda...
They would come with what's on their mind or heart. We'd listen to what they share. Affirm. Encourage them to share. I measure my effectiveness in how much they are willing to ask deep questions, rather than how much they are willing to listen.
People can pretend that they hear you (nod, nod) but actually the mind is elsewhere.
Sometimes, we dun need to provide answers... just knowing and empathising with what they are struggling with (as a good active listener) in itself can be helpful. Better still, if you have asked the same questions, people actually sit up and think, "Hey, there's someone who understands!"
Advertisement time: A new cafe has opened up to provide a neutral ground for such dialogues... Interested folks can contact Sook Ngoh at psn7@yahoo.com
Check out Gen M Cafe:

Also, CDPC is gonna organise a forum on Dan Brown's phenomenal fiction "The Da Vinci Code". If you know people who are interested, round them up and drop hints that such an event is upcoming... I'd keep u all updated once we have sorted things out.
