Loi Kratong

At the Chulalongkorn University, during Loi Kratong festival... Hundreds of Thai students send away their 'kratong' (boat decorated with flowers/candles) at a nearby lake, in hope of luck and love(?)

King Chulalongkorn was revered in the nation for establishing friendly ties with the Western powers and safeguarded its independence. We visited the Italian-style Grand Palace where he once lived, and nearby Emerald Buddha temple in the morning... and during the night, I *was taken* to Pat Pong where the ago-go bars were.

Bangkok is a city full of life, colors, great food, friendly smiles and contradictions.
