I met Melvin at one of the night classes in MBS. He's quite a hunk, works for a Big 4 company and goes to JIC. Tried to promote him around, but alas, he's taken.
Anyway, he told me that he is interested in Church History on Tuesday mornings. In order to attend that class, he took half-day leave every week.
Wow! Talk about commitment and passion...
It was quite surprising and heartening to see quite a number of young professionals doing part-time classes in theology. Some of them are quite 'happening' people too. I felt like going back to school during the NT Class because everybody is probably below 30.
Not that I dun like to mix with elder folks... but it excites me when theology becomes not only the domain of those who prepare to be 'fulltime workers'... but also people in the marketplace! (Regent is famous for pioneering this concept)
A lot more needs to be done... Maybe the day is dawning when we will turn Coffee Bean or Starbucks into the next White Horse Inn!
