Peter Rowan is OMF Missionary from Ireland, and lecturer at MBS. Doing a missions class with him... Pretty exciting stuffs i.e. Mission is much wider than evangelism, encompass a broad range of human needs.
Gonna do a critique on modern missionary movement as well, although we thank God for the strides made with world mission... there are still glaring weaknesses like the perception that we are 'reluctant imperialists', data-driven evangelism, failure to raise up local leaders, having the seed of the gospel take root in another cultural soil and bear fruits that are uniquely theirs. (rather than a carbon copy of our way of doing things)
Peter seems to me what a model of what a missionary ought to be - passionate abt the Lordship of Christ over all the earth, intellectually tough about the uniqueness of Christ in salvation, humble, diligent and confidence in the sovereignty of God.
