Aragorn is not a pacifict when the orcs are at the gates of Gondor. He is not a warmonger either, for there's nothing he loved more than peace in the arms of Arwen... composing songs and poems... His 'healing hands' is a sign of the kingship.
As a Ranger, he protected Shire free of charge, without knowing how a hobbit could contribute to peace in MiddleEarth. I like how the regal aura is captured here.
