Plato thinks that our existence is modelled after perfect Forms of wat human essentially or ideally is.
But Jean Paul Sartre says: "Existence precedes essence".
"... there was nothing left in heaven, no right or wrong, nor anyone to give me orders.. .For I am a man, and every man must find out his own way..."
If there is no God, there is design or purpose for man. There is no human essence or nature that individual human beings correspond to. Man simply is. He must then create his own values, he acts not only for himself but for all men.
"Without God all things are permissible"
