The Good Malaysian?

Li Shuan's experience reminds me how difficult it is to be a good Samaritan in Malaysia.

I was driving down the highway near Sri Hartamas at night... Besides a car parked at the roadside, I saw a woman struggling vigorously with a man. So I called the police... the operator took 10 minutes to answer the phone... and asked me the location... thereupon directed the call to the nearest police station... where I waited another 5 minutes before repeating the entire scenario... then the line was cut off... They called back... same thing happened... I waited... I explained... line disconnected... for more than 40 minutes.

Eventually I gave up with the despairing thot that I can't contact them if my life depended on it.

I once witnessed a murder by an assasin, and it took the Police more than an hour to get there! Then another time I saw a huge gang beat one guy up, and after being passed from police station to station, the final person I spoke too asked me "yang kena pukul, apa bangsa?" (what is the race of the victim)- the moral of the story, in an emergency, don't wait for the police, have a plan B.
