Pilgrim's Digress

We're fellow seekers of truth.

Sharing a spiritual journey... Tell me stories from the path you took

Great lines to start up a chat with a friend. It reminds us that we have not 'arrived', to be humble and listen and not pressured to do all the talking.

And it dawned on me (via Horton) that the picture is incomplete though.

We're not only fellow travellers.
We're pilgrims to the heavenly city.

The difference between a seeker and a pilgrim is that the latter knows where she is headed, and making her way there while the former is still searching for a destination.

Our paths may cross fellow travellers, we meet them where they are along the journey, and invite them to be pilgrims as well...

Fantastic! There is a incompleteness about us today. I remember a recent cell group where someone said that we are “only sinners…” and Steven Sim added in “saved by grace” and that person was surprised. That moment captured it all in my mind, how the man in his supposed humility professes his sinfulness (which I admire), but stops there. Thus I see a great humility in these Post Modern times, that dares say “we don’t know” but I see a danger when we don’t add “but we can find out”.

Maybe this is another example...

All truth claims are embodied in a specific culture, language, time and space...

The Word became flesh, personal and concrete in history and dwelt among us.

But we need to add: "This concrete, personal, embodied truth makes contact with Reality beyond the constructs of human mind"

(now that's a mouthful!)
