Had lunch with Ron Choong last Saturday... Good to know his plans of coming back to M'sia, we sure need all the help we can get!
It seems that both of us first discovered the wonderful world of Christian theology through RC Sproul, whose ability to communicate deep ideas in simple, clear language has helped many laypeople.
Ron said something that resonates deeply with me.
He used to believe that he'd do a lot of evangelistic encounters with people, but as he progressed, he realised that it's more powerful to train people to be able to go back to their workplace and reach others. These folks, once equipped, would have access and minister to people more effectively than he could ever do.
Of course, our reflection must be done in context of practice, and always cautious of the old adage that, "Those who know do. Those who don't know teach."
But equipping 'normal Christians' to be winsome, tactful and informed ambassadors for Christ IS a powerful ministry!
Hmm... Imagine if SU or FES include the "Ambassadors For Christ" curriculum as one of the components of youth camps??!
:D REVIVAL>...
PS: Felt so honored that Ron sent me his notes for proof-reading... yup, he does me a big favor who reads my blog and take the time to correct or comment also. :)

May I add, "it's more powerful to train people to be able to go back to their workplace [in rural areas and small towns]"
3 years in campus and I saw the futile effort; the day when we see the answer in theology, and not methodology, that revival beckons!
We'd sing Beyond songs during service, in a limestone cave with painted iconography on the walls (like in Perak caves)... May even use "Kung Fu Hustle" for sermon illustrations... Applicants can write in asap! :-)
