A Strange Dream

My significant other, Grace (the Irresistible) read yesterday's blog and told me she would "hope to see Sivin once"!

And I said: "Yes, you should! Maybe not only once la..." Hahaha...

This is something of an funny irony.

Because some time back, she had a dream (Grace is the intuitive, charismatic one)

In that dream, she wanted to go for an Emergent meeting.
And I forbid her!!

She thought it was strange because I have even encouraged her to go for some Buddhist events or seek to 'redeem' yoga exercises for the glory of God!

So when she woke up, she told me about the dream and said;

"You boys dun 'fight' lar..."

Hahahah... I wonder if there's a divine oracle here.

But let me be frank that in real-life, I'm all supportive of her getting to know Emergent better... (Alwyn already met her at Mich's wedding, ya...)

Maybe after getting to know you all, she would be less worried that I'd turn liberal after marriage... hahaha...

I believe this is a classic case of "pat ta pat siong sek" (cantonese, lit. no fight, no getting to know one another). Perhaps EMO and Agora has long been isolating or at least operating as if one or the other did not exist. Well, no doubt there are differences (or else why the troubles with long blog entries and equally long comments), but there is something greater than clubs and organizations. I am sure both parties know this very well. And i like wut SK pointed out, that in these ministries, it is not so much God working through us, no doubt it is, but more than that, God is working in us.

But I believe the "exchange of words" are pretty friendly. Sivin pointed out the limitation of the matrix to express fully our thoughts. Just need to be extra careful on this part. Afterall, it's healthy to see EMO and Agora begin to converse/engage (depending on which side you are on..*wink*). The older folks in NECF or other Church leaders will certainly be glad that these communities of young ppl are sharpening one another. And the truth is, we desperately need the older folks too - they were the ones building the Church before this bunch of idealistic young chaps come along. The Church is not merely EMO or Agora, but definitely, if we would care to strategize well to include one another and other Christians in our movement/ministry, the Msian Church would taste progress if not revival.

Just my two mao on this "battle".

I think it will bring out a negative image if we are to picture this as a "war". Personally, I think that although EMO is right to point out where they differ from Agora, I think that we should find out where they agree...and focus on it.

Like you said, we have a "convergence of concerns".

Perhaps, all we need is a woman's perspective??!

How come all the guys are 'oppressively' monopolising the discussion? heheheh...

Thanks 'Jessica' you remind me of what Seraph said to Neo: "You do not truly know someone until you fight them".

But Lycaphim is right that the 'war' or 'battle' analogy is hardly appropriate here.

I know each and every one personally (some since HELP college days) so we are not isolated at all.

But the matrix is limited... long blog posts not alwiz helpful so I am happy to bring 'fellowship offering' of dim sum! heheh...

It would be nice to have it reciprocated with 'siew pau' is all I'm saying...

But ya, I plan to give 2 ruppiahs on our Convergence later.

Hopefully, for the faint-hearted, it would exemplify how rigorous arguments can be done in generous love. To Malaysians unfamiliar with a free speech society, this may be sound like a contradiction but it's not.

Thanks, Sherman, I hear you bro. Appreciate your inputs.

wow! I'm curious what "inspired" Grace to want to see me once :-)

(note: I'm resorting to a short post now while listening to Redemption songs from jars of Clay ... hey pretty good!)

Unity in the essentials,
Diversity in the non-essentials, Charity in all things :) Amen.

Sivin, I think it has to do with your great comments earlier... But I do recall she complimented on your looks from the blog photos hahahaha....
