To Watch Or Not To Watch?

Should I watch Da vinci code in cinemas and contribute to its success?
Should I not watch and can't join my friends' after movie discussions?
Should I watch and buy CDs from SS2 pasar malam?????

Join in the discussion on such Ethical dilemmas and more here!

In view of the DVC movie next month, I have tried to compile some of the resources (in Chinese) available on the net and hope that it may help someone in having meaningful dialogues with their friends.

Please lemme know if you have articles other than these CCWL, Router Genie, Engaging Culture and The Truth About DVC

Do you know any resources in bahasa? Considering a sizeable portion of our student population dunno Chinese or English, maybe it's a good idea to form a team to translate these resource in BM.

The Methodist did a forum on Sunday (23 April) which Bishop Dr. Hwa Yung
said: "In view of the Da Vinci code controversies and confusion over Jesus
Christ and the origins of Christianity, the Church is obligated to
provide an intellectual response. I am delighted for these seminars."

Our Daily Bread and Campus Crusade has sent out a short VCD and tracts.. Do make use of them and pester the pastor to show them to the congregation and get them prepared ok? We can do this together! :)

Just today, I had lunch with a fren.

During lunch, we were distracted by the table on our right.

One big mama was commenting to her group about the Da Vinci Code and the Gospel of Judas and how she said it "enlightened her and given her a new perspective about all faiths."

I couldn't help listening in, yet proceeded with regular talk with my friend.

In the car while driving him back, he spied a copy of Josh McDowell's Da Vinci Code : The Quest for Answers in my car.

As a catholic, he has been asked many times by many people in the industry of what he thought about his faith and whether he would stop being a catholic.

And so, thanks to that big mama, we started a lengthy conversation at the end of which, he asked if he could have that book for a read. I told him to keep that book.

Another guy who was also with us, brought up the issue of the Gospel of Judas.

This other guy had the opinion that it is better not to say anything in response to the Da Vinci Code or tonight's National Geographic's "The Gospel of Judas" otherwise non-believers would think that there is some truth/credibility to the wild claims made.

"Should we deny answers to those who are seriously asking when the answers are available and not necessarily from a partisan point of view?" I asked him.

Yes people are asking, and then there are those who are doubting (the average church people I know). One cannot just ignore the growing rumblings and hope that it'll all go away. One cannot simply just appeal to personal testimony and say, "look at how God transformed my life, as if that's enough proof for God's reality in one's life."

Sounds familiar?

Hi Dave, just wanted to let you know that I showed the VCD of the talk you gave together with the other two esteemed Christian thinkers to my cell group tonite. We found it very informative and are hopefully, suitably armed to answer all sorts of questions that will be sprung once the movie comes to our shores - in a winsome and respectful manner, of course ;)
