"The Minnesota State Fair is one of the nation's largest and best-attended agricultural and educational entertainment events." Saturday (8/26) - Followed my colleagues to the State Fair for parades, farm animals and lotsa food-on-a-stick... As we were walking around, I came across the booth of The Patriot a radio station for conservative politics, broadcasting live with (guess who?) talk-radio host and mega-blogger Hugh Hewitt himself!! Unfortunately I didn't manage to get a photo, just a far-away shot with him on far right...
While I may not agree 100% with his political views, I was inspired by Hugh Hewitt's book "In But Not Of: A guide to Christian ambition" which encourages Christians to join the information revolution that is the blog and write on issues (not just bare-all diaries). Check out this example of how blogs take on established media like NewsweekStand To Reason puts it this way:
"...the information revolution taking place via the web is akin to the information revolution that allowed the Reformation to change the world. The original Reformation was fueled by the public's access to published material; the new information reformation allows the public to be publishers, information-producers. Blogs are becoming the new public square, a way to engage others and share ideas and information. Christianity has always adjusted and made use of new forms of communication to proclaim the Gospel message...
Christians have all kinds of gifts and expertise that don't get used well in the local church; take your ministry in your own hands and blog it, always remembering to be a winsome and attractive ambassador."
