Met some fascinating UM students, who made me think, "There's hope yet for the M'sian church!"
These fellows were in their final years. I asked them abt the issues weighing heavily on their minds, and guess what?
"We gotta understand the social contract our forefathers made as a nation - Malaysia"
"Understand and dialogue with our Muslim fellow students"
"Racial integration - How we can live in better harmony in a pluralistic society?"
"We gotta do something about social action and justice."
"How do we engage the postmodern culture?"
"What can we do about the epidemic biblical illiteracy in our generation?"
Wow. When I was their age, I only grappled with menial issues like how to tackle that hot chic in CF! They are reading Wayne Grudem, Karl Marx etc when I was still mulling over Elizabeth Eliott's "Passion and Purity".
If they keep at this pace, the days ahead will be exciting. In my book, they are the potential Planet Shakers.
