One of the enduring legacy of the Reformation was the struggle to make the Scripture available in everyman's language so that even the ploughboy could read it, and know the truth better than the doctors of the church.
For this, William Tyndale is my favorite Reformer...
He purposed in his heart to translate the New Testament to English, and eventually would be martyred for this project. He has debated no lesser an opponent than Sir Thomas More.
