Veritas Forums

"Veritas Forums are university events that engage students and faculty in discussions about life's hardest questions and the relevance of Jesus Christ to all of life."

"We invite people with differing worldviews, religions, and ideas to participate, ask questions, and join discussions in order to explore true life together, and we encourage participants to bring friends who are engaged in the exploration of life’s hardest questions."

UM and UIA have been organising somewhat similar forums like this. That bespeaks confidence.

When Chris Leong spoke at HELP CF years ago, he told us that in such events the Muslim scholar has at least a Masters degree while the Christian representative usually has a degree or diploma... there's a not-so-level playing field.

Ok, enuff of navel-gazing self-criticism... what can we do about it?

These events are all about soundbites. And it's about making an impact in the short timeframe. Chances are, nobody will change his mind. But still the Christian faith can use a good showing for once!

What can be really transforming is about ordinary people sharing with their friends at the cafeteria, classroom, airport, factory, office lounge... from an accurately informed mind, winsome character and wise tactics. Barna's polls show that only 9% of 'born again' Christians have a biblical worldview... think what 50% can do to change the spiritual climate of our day.
