Runway To London

Every decision we make has an element of faith.

But not every leap requires the same amount of faith...

Sitting on my chair now requires faith but not a great deal... Nothing comparable to the faith I need to believe in UFOs...

So while trust in Darwinism or pantheism or Buddhism or Jesus has elements of faith, we may still wonder if that leap is 'blind faith' or a 'reasonable faith'.

If reason is the opposite to faith, then the best thing that can happen to Christianity is IF archeologists discover Jesus' tomb and bones. Then it wud take enormous amount of faith to believe in the resurrection!

On the other hand, must we have indubitable proof before belief? If we have certainty, then where is room for faith?

So we have two extremes to avoid - absolute certainty and absolute fideism.

To me, reason is like the runway... faith is like the aeroplane which picks up speed and momentum as it moves along reason... until a point where it takes flight...

u can't take off without runway, but the runway won't take us to London either! :-)
