Da Vinci Code II

Last Friday was a personal mini-landmark of sorts.

The Living Room: Da Vinci Code Forum in SIB turned out to be a blast! Ps Lee Choo, Ian, Jennifer, Adeline and Jade were so passionate, meticulous and heart-and-soul in planning and organising this event.

Many were just blown away by the electrifying atmosphere, door gifts and awesome trailer. The hosts were really warm and generous.

I took leave to prepare for the 'show', the prospect of getting grilled by Ian and God-knows-who from the audience made me jittery. Practised it half a dozen times but never got to finish within 15 minutes.

Near desperation, I cried out for grace moments before going up to the slaughter.

Ironic thing, the part where I practised most (beginning) turned out to be worst. Somehow, I said "Yoga" when it should have been "Yoda". Maybe Grace's fault since she sat right in front.

As if not embarassing enuff, a mini drum roll punctuates the mistake, heheh....

But after that, momentum picks up and the Lord brought us thru... The most unpracticed part (ending) turned out better than expected... phew!

Glad to meet some bloggers - Good Christian Boy, Kayan Butter and Wai Nyan that nite. Also ex-colleague Desmond, current colleague Evan, LBS comrade Janice, Allen's sis, my brother in law and CDPC folks' colleagues/frens etc.

The biggest crowd we had so far. I was touched by folks in the audience who hunger to discover more abt their faith and know-how to engage their friends in meaningful dialogues.

Frankly, the Powerpoint slides were designed in a way easy to remember which I hope wud be useful to the laypeople. (Fact-vs-Fiction)

Nothing fancy. Bcos the normal folks cant know everything about Templar knights, priory of sion, leonardo da vinci paintings etc, I came up with this soundbyte:

"Even IF it's true that these folks believe in these stories abt Mary Magdalene, why should we accept them as historical since they lived hundreds of years after Jesus?"

The only credible answer from DVC devotees:
The 'suppressed' Gnostic Gospel of Philip about the 'kiss'...

Here, we only need to know one thing: When was the 'gospel' of Philip was written?

Most optimistic estimate is no earlier than AD200. Some place it about 300 AD.
(ie 100 -150 years later than the Canonical gospels)

So what?

That means it's more than a hundred years removed from the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Whoever wrote it, it couldn't have been the biblical Philip.

In contrast the canonical gospels were written within 50 years of the events. Based on eyewitness accounts.

It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out which is more historically reliable!

Was encouraged by Dr Chew and Auntie Lee Choo while on the lift.

"Very Clear" is music to my ears. I had to rearrange the slides after Joshua's friend got confused with the extensive quotes from Gnostic Gospels.

"Very Chim" wud have been disastrous.

"What's your hot topic?" they asked.

Equipping Christians to be informed, winsome and wise ambassadors for Christ... Anyone interested? Will Work For Food...

I think uploading a file is like uploading a pic, rite?

Alternatively, you can copy key slides and save that as a .gif or .jpg file. Then you can put it online the way you did the Punisher pic, :)
