Under Malaysian Sun

Having a sister in Main Convent School in Ipoh, I was kept updated on who's hot and who's not amongst secondary school girls. Tommy Page was hot. Ditto for Donnie and Jordan of New Kids on the Block. Those were the days before Korean/J-pop idols hit the market.

Apart from the 4 Hong Kong "heavenly kings", ONE Asian 'genuinely-royal' heartthrob gave these pop stars a run for their money and made the school girls swoon - the Perak Crown Prince Raja Nazrin Shah. He was handsome and smart (degree in Oxford and non-honorary Phd in philosophy, politics and law at harvard)

He's still an eligible bachelor, but that isn't why I feel so proud to come from Perak today.

At the Young Malaysians' Roundtable Discussion on National Unity and Development in Malaysia: Prospects and Challenges for Nation Building, he outlined 7 ingredients to nation building, calling all Malaysians to defend and promote the integrity of the Federal Constitution. It's about time a leader courageously says something sensible about this...

"All Malaysians, regardless of race and religion, have a place in this nation, and society must recognise that they share a common home and responsibility to build the nation together.

"Malaysians of all races, religions, and geographic locations need to believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that they have a place under the Malaysian sun.

"Only when each citizen believes he or she has a common home and is working towards a common destiny, will he or she make the sacrifices needed for the long haul."
