Tricky question... er, in a nutshell, although I agree largely with the courtship model (aka New Attitude, Joshua Harris) esp in an increasingly promiscuous culture, I think 'dating' needs to be defined more carefully... ie i dun think going out for a movie, one on one, with a friend of the opposite sex qualifies as 'dating' if there is nothing more than platonic being communicated ler.. hehe...
Happy new year! Spoke to Soo-Inn about you yesterday ;-) ah.. I see your position.. man, realise its been some time since I thought about "Bibical dating".. must be since I got attached 4 years ago.. I remember refusing to buy Joshua Harris' 1st book, but enthusiastically getting the 2nd (Boy meets Girl).. wrt to dating, think there is a great need to differentiate culture and theology.. one weakness of Harris' stuff is that I feel it is really very America-centric.. "dating", in our Asian context seems to have a diff meaning.. though that is evolving.. :-) look fwd to meeting u one day!
